Is Your Financial Aid File Complete?
-
Be sure to check the status of your financial aid on our web site at
https://www.finaid.ucsb.edu/AidStatus/index.asp.
The following information should have been received by the UCSB Financial
Aid Office by August 1 in order for your financial aid to be credited
to your UCSB Billing (BARC) account by the fee payment deadline:
-
All forms indicated on the Request for Additional Documents (if
applicable). See Tab 3 on your “Aid Status.”
-
If you are accepting your student loans, the Student Loan Request
Form should be submitted electronically (see Tab 5 on your “Aid Status”).
Are You Applying For Loans? If So, Have You Taken Care Of These Requirements?
-
Direct Loan Promissory Note (if you have not already completed a Master
Promissory Note)
-
Parent Loan (PLUS) Promissory Note (if the parent borrower has not already
completed a Master Promissory Note). See the links on Tab 6 of the web site.
-
Entrance Interview Form for the Direct Loan (if you are a Direct Loan borrower
for the first time at UCSB)
-
Perkins Loan promissory Note and Entrance interview
(if you are a Perkins Loan borrower for the first time at UCSB)
-
Graduate Plus Loan Promissory Note and Entrance Interview
(if the borrower has not already completed a Master Promissory Note and Entrance Interview).
-
Note that you can complete the Direct Loan/Graduate Plus Loan requirements (Master Promissory Notes
and Entrance Interview) and the Perkins Loan Entrance Interview and Student Loan
Questionnaire online. Use links provided on your electronic Award Letter and to
the Student Loan Request Form.
Are You Enrolled In Classes For Fall Quarter?
- To register for classes use
GOLD:
-
Undergraduates must enroll in a minimum of 6 units for financial aid and loans to
credit to BARC.
-
Graduate students must enroll in a minimum of 4 units for loans to credit to BARC.
Will Your Fall Fees Be Paid Or Deferred By The Deadline?
-
You can check to see what financial aid has been credited to your BARC account by viewing
Tab 7 of the “Aid Status” portion of the Financial Aid Office web site. You can check the
status of your BARC account at: https://mybarc.ucsb.edu
-
Undergraduate students who have a “balance due” on their BARC account must pay or defer this
balance by 4 p.m. on September 15 (graduate students – September 24) in order to avoid a $50
late payment fee (assessed by the Office of the Registrar) and to protect enrolled class space.
If your aid is not sufficient to pay your BARC charges or your aid is not ready to disburse by
the deadline, you can enter into a deferred billing agreement with the UCSB Billing Office by
completing a “Payment Agreement Form – Financial Aid Recipient”. This form will be available on the Billing Office’s
website mid-August at
http://www.barc.ucsb.edu/forms.htm#Billing. Please note that the BARC
Office assesses a $25 charge to defer your “now due” charges.
What If Your Fall Fees are Not Paid Or Deferred By The Deadline?
-
If your fees were not paid or deferred by the fee payment deadline, you will be charged a $50
late payment fee by the Office of the Registrar. If you are an undergraduate, you may be
dropped from your classes. If you are dropped from your classes, in order for your financial
aid to be credited to your BARC account, you must pay or defer your “current balance” charges
with the Billing Office and re-register in at least the minimum number of units.
How Will Fall Refunds Be Issued?
-
All refunds are electronically directly deposited into your designated account by the BARC Office.
You can complete the Gaucho Direct Deposit Authorization Form on-line and mail it to the Billing
Office. For more information regarding refunds and Gaucho Direct Deposit, please visit the Billing
Office website at: http://www.barc.ucsb.edu/refunds.htm
All students who have a credit balance as a result of financial aid, loans, or graduate credits on
September 10 will have their direct deposit released to their designated account on September 15.
For those students who have not requested direct deposit, checks will be mailed to local addresses
on September 15, 2009. Students who have credit balances acquired after September 10 (due to
financial aid loans, or graduate credits being applied to their account) will have their direct
deposit released to their designated account twice weekly starting on September 24, 2009 (checks will
be generated and mailed only once weekly).
Students living in non-University owned housing should use the proceeds of their refund check to pay
their room and board.
When Will You Receive Your Fall Registration Sticker?
Have You Activated Your U-Mail?
-
The Financial Aid Office will communicate with students via U-Mail. We will inform you of any changes
to your financial aid by instructing you to access your aid status on the Financial Aid Office web
site. You can activate your U-Mail by selecting the U-Mail icon from
my.sa.ucsb.edu.
