Summer Session Financial Aid Award
& Disbursement Information
Summer Aid Disbursements
The calendar of the starting dates for each summer session determines when students’
aid will be disbursed to their BARC accounts. Students’ first class dates control when
their funds are disbursed.
-
For those students whose classes begin on or before June 22 (Sessions A, C, and D)
and whose aid was ready to disburse, the Financial Aid Office began disbursing aid
to their BARC accounts on June 1.
-
Thereafter, as aid becomes ready to disburse, we will disburse aid to these
students’ BARC accounts on a daily basis until Friday, June 19.
-
Beginning, Monday, June 22, we will begin disbursing summer session aid on a
twice-per-week cycle on Mondays and Thursdays. This schedule will be
maintained until the end of Summer Session in September.
-
For those students whose first class date is after June 23 (Session B, E, F,
and G), funds will not be disbursed to their BARC accounts until approximately 10
days before their first class date.
Students can monitor our progress in disbursing their summer aid by accessing their 2008-09
files through “My Aid Status” on our web site and clicking on “Disbursement Information”
(Tab 7).
Gaucho Direct Deposit and Refund Checks:
Refunds for credit balances on BARC accounts cannot be released any sooner than 10 days
before a student’s first day of classes. Because of the numerous starting dates for the
various summer sessions, the Financial Aid Office monitors students’ enrollments and
controls the disbursement of aid to students’ BARC accounts.
-
The Billing Office began releasing Gaucho Direct Deposits or mailing refund checks
on June 12 for those students with credit balances whose classes start on or before
June 22.
-
For those students whose first class date is after June 22, refunds will be
released as soon as sufficient funds are applied to the students’ BARC accounts and
all institutional charges are paid. As noted above, funds will not be disbursed to
these students’ BARC accounts until approximately 10 days before their first class
dates so that the Billing Office is able to observe the federal 10-day rule when
releasing refunds.
Fee Payment Deadline:
Wednesday, July 15, is the fee payment deadline for the payment of all summer session
fees. There are no penalties or late fees if summer registration fees are not paid by June
15.
For students who have not paid their fees and whose aid cannot be disbursed by July 15
because of the 10-day rule mentioned above, the Financial Aid Office will protect their
classes and prevent late fees from being charged if:
-
the student‘s aid eligibility has been determined and posted to the student’s
file on the Financial Aid website by July 15; AND
-
the sum of the student’s grants and Direct Loan eligibility are at least $2048
for undergraduates or $3043 for graduate students.
Students will be notified by e-mail if they meet the above requirements and we determine we needed to provide this protection for them.
